CHAMBER CHOIR
Chamber Choir is open to students in grades 6 – 8. Students
in Chamber Choir must match pitch and be able to
independently carry a tune. Repertoire is drawn from
classical, folk, and contemporary styles, with an emphasis
on part-singing. Students participate in both the Winter
and Spring Concerts.
SHOW CHOIR
Show Choir is open to students in grades 5 –8. Members
spend half the semester in choral rehearsals learning proper
singing and ensemble techniques, as they learn repertoire
from the Broadway/Show Tune genre. Members spend the second
part of the semester learning choreography to accompany
these songs. The ensemble performs at the Winter and Spring
Concerts, and they participate annually in the Music in the
Parks Festival at Six Flags Great Adventure.
FIFTH GRADE CHORUS
In addition to their weekly music class, students in the
Fifth Grade have the option of participating in Beginning
Band or Chorus. Students in Fifth Grade Chorus refine vocal
and ensemble skills begun in Lower School choral
experiences. Greater emphasis is placed on part-singing and
score-reading. Repertoire is drawn from the classical and
folk traditions, as well as from more contemporary arrangers
and composers. Students participate in both the Winter and
Spring Concerts.
FIFTH GRADE BEGINNING BAND
In addition to their weekly music class, students in the
Fifth Grade have the option of participating in Beginning
Band or Chorus. Students in Beginning Band choose to learn
flute, clarinet, saxophone, violin, snare drum, or
trumpet. The ensemble participates ian both the Winter and
Spring Concerts.
INSTRUMENTAL ENSEMBLE
Instrumental Ensemble is open to students in grades 6 – 8
with at least one year experience playing an instrument.
Students explore arranging and improvising, while refining
ensemble skills. Students participate in both the Winter
and Spring Concerts.
