Parent Visit
Parents are invited to tour Chapin, explore the school's academic and extracurricular programs as well as discuss their child.

Application
A completed application form and a $40.00 application fee is required before a student can be scheduled for a visit.

Although there is no official deadline for applications, admission decisions are mailed in mid-March. To secure placement, parents are advised to apply by mid-February.

Recommendation Form
This form must be completed by the applicant's current teacher and sent directly to Chapin by the teacher.

Student Visit and Testing
Please call the Admission Office at 609-986-1702 to schedule visits or register for specific test dates.

Applying for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten*: The applicant visits on a Saturday morning for screening and playtime. Testing lasts approximately 45 minutes.

Pre-Kindergarten: February 20,  9 am to 1 pm
Kindergarten: January 30,  9 am to 1 pm and 
                    February 6,  9 am to 1 pm

All other applicants spend the entire school day (8 am – 3 pm) with students in his/her current grade level.  Applicants visiting Chapin for an entire school day will need to bring a mid-morning snack, bag lunch, and sneakers.

*Cut off dates: Pre-K students must be 4 years old by Sept.1 and Kindergarten students must be 5 by Sept. 1.

Applying for Grade 1: Testing is administered when the applicant visits Chapin for the day.

Applying for Grades 2 through 5: Testing is administered on a Saturday morning, lasting up to 2 hours.

Grade 2: February 6,  9 to 9:45 am
Grade 3 - 5: February 6,  9 to 11 am

Applying for Grades 6 through 8: The Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) is required.

Transcripts
A letter from our Admission Office will be sent to the applicant's present school requesting transcripts.  Recommendation forms, available from Chapin, are to be filled out by the applicant's present teacher. Parents are responsible for giving these forms to current teachers. Transcripts and recommendations are returned directly to Chapin from the present school.

Notification
Decisions are mailed on March 10th.
