The Chapin community is composed of faculty,
parents and children of all ages who often come together to
celebrate, entertain or help each other. Whether these
events are grade specific (a benchmark to be anticipated by
younger students) or school-wide (a chance for younger and
older children to come together and learn to enjoy each
other), most become part of the Chapin tradition.
Grade specific events for the lower school include a Mardi
Gras Parade in Pre-K, a Pumpkin Carve-in for Kindergarten,
Cinco de Mayo in 1st, Pasta Week in 2nd, an Indian Potlach
Celebration in 3rd and Immigration Night in 4th grade.
In the Upper School, the 5th grade celebrates the mysteries
of ancient Egypt with Nile Nibbles and 6-8th graders prepare
for weeks for the annual Curriculum Fair. The 8th Grade Play
is an event that is attended by every student and the student-faculty Talent Show allows anyone who wants
to perform, from Pre-K’er to Admimistrator, to be a star for
three minutes.
Chapin's Parents’ Association, the largest body of
volunteers in the community, plans several yearly events
that are large in scope and enjoyment beginning with the
Family Barbeque, followed by a Halloween Happening, 3-day
Book Fair and mid-winter Ice Cream Bingo Bash.
