March is a short but action filled month. Basketball season wraps up and everyone looks forward to the student vs. faculty game. Students are excited about the all-school Talent Show. And Upper School writers are putting the final touches on their poetry and prose to submit to "Fledgling," the school literary magazine.
Next week, the fourth grade holds their Immigration Night, the culmination of their Language Arts unit on Immigration. Students read novels and short articles explaining the difficulties of travel from many different countries. They examine the reasons people left their countries - famine, political oppression, and religious freedom - and make comparisons to life today. In their play students give a short synopsis of what they have learned. After all this hard work, the fourth grade travels the next day to visit Ellis Island and experience it for themselves.
