| In honor of wonderfully loving and sacficial moms, Chapin School's third and fourth grade students hosted their moms in the Thomas Auditorium for a Mother's Day luncheon. | The Hun School of Princeton awarded the Donaldson Scholarship to Katie McCarthy of Chapin School. The Donaldson Scholarship is a merit-based award, which provides full tuition to attend The Hun School of Princeton. Katie is the fourth Chapin student in recent years to receive the high honor. |  | Mercer Science and Engineering |
| Chapin School is pleased to announce that several seventh grade students were the recipients of awards at the 2013 Mercer Science and Engineering Fair.
The Mercer Science and Engineering Fair (MSEF) has been held for more than 50 years in Mercer County and is open to students in grades 4 through 12. The grand prize winner for the Senior Division receives an all expense paid trip to Intel's International Science and Engineering Fair. From Chapin School this year, there are four winners in the junior biological and physical science categories for their outstanding achievement in successfully completing and presenting their projects.
This Fair gives students of Mercer County in grades four through twelve a chance to explain topics in all areas of science, engineering, and mathematics. Studentsget hands-on experience in topics that interest them and develop expertise in the scientific method. Presentation skills are also developed increasing a student’s confidence and poise.

Chapin is hosting the upcoming CommonGround lecture featuring author Lenore Skenazy on Feb. 7, 2013 at 7:30 - 9 p.m. The event is open to the public. The lecture will explore the ideas in her recent book regarding raising children with self-reliance, Free Range Kids: Giving our Children the Freedom We Had Without Going Nuts with Worry. | 12/03/12 Oil paintings by Dan Finaldi will be on display between Jan. 3-31 with an artist opening on Wednesday, January 9 from 5 - 7 pm. | 11/20/12 Every other year, Chapin opens it's doors to the Grandparents and Special Friends of students. Guests are invited to spend time in classrooms and enjoy a heartwarming performance from the student body. Returning guests claim this is a "highlight" of their family celebration at Thanksgiving. We agree! |

| 11/1/12 Well-known abstract artist, Pat Martin, will exhibit "Abstract Drawings and Paintings" at the Gallery at Chapin between November 1 - December 9. Her work is "about the process of creation and its endless possibilities." An artist reception will be held November 28 from 5 - 7 pm. For more information, click here. |

|  | What a Harvest! |
| 9/6/12 Eighth grade students help to havest the first crop of carrots. Begun in the spring, Chapin's garden is bursting forth with fresh produce of all kinds. In addition to sweet corn, tomatoes and peppers harvested earlier, the eggplant and zucchini are abundant as are the ever spreading pumpkins! "Next year," says Kerry McQuarrie, chair of the Garden Committee, "pumpkins are OUTSIDE the fence!"
School Chef, Gerrard Zolezi, is excited about the prospect of menu selections derived from the fresh produce on site. He intends to include recipes on his web page based on the vegetables and herbs grown on Chapin soil. |

|  | New Faces at Chapin |
| 9/4/12 We welcome five new faces on campus this year. Mrs. Karen Faiman, teaching fifth grade Spanish; Miss Kristy Guerriero teaching the third section of fifth grade; Mr. Eddie Matthews joins the Buildings and Grounds team; Mrs. Cassanrda Rasmussen teaching the third section of fourth grade and Ms. Heather Windom teaching second grade. We would also like to welcome back Mrs. Jane Wilson who will be teaching drama and directing the eighth grade play. Mrs. Wilson also taught English and drama at Chapin from 2003-2009. Elizabeth Frasciello, a student from Westminster studying for her Masters in Music Education, will be doing her student teaching with the music department this semester. |

|  | Bunn Paintings and Drawings |
| 10/1/12 Bucks county artist Dot Bunn will display both paintings and drawings from Oct. 1 - 31 with a public reception on Oct. 3. Bunn is a full-time professional studio painter and teaches traditional oil painting. She finds her inspiration and guidance in the convention of picture-making from the fine old master paintings. | 08/12/12 Madelaine Shellaby is well known for her beautiful concepts of nature. She has an exceptional eye for arranging and capturing with clarity the breathtaking beauty and character of plants and stones. She scans flowers, roots, and leaves into the computer from the garden and woods of her surroundings. She may exaggerate and fictionalize her images, but she never loses the true essence of their nature. Her digital photographs are true treasures to be examined and studied for their combination of true as well as fictional aspects.
