What is a Capital Campaign?

A Capital Campaign is designed to raise substantial funds to meet critical areas of need.  Typically, a Capital Campaign supports larger initiatives including campus renovations, facility enhancements and non-tangible areas of need including endowment funds.  Capital Campaigns address the long-term needs of Chapin whereas the Annual Fund is aimed to meet short-term operating needs.  Capital Campaigns typically occur every three to five years.  Gifts and pledges can be unrestricted or can be directed within the board-designated goals of the Capital Campaign.

How will the most recent Capital Campaign benefit Chapin?
The Campaign for Chapin School:  Where Young Minds and Hearts Grow raised $2.6 million for the School.  The Campaign was officially launched in February of 2004 with a goal total of $2.5 million dollars.  Three critical areas of need are now being addressed thanks to the generosity of so many members of the Chapin family:

  • endowment for faculty salaries and professional development

  • endowment for financial aid

  • a new Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten building, a new Lower School playground and improved parking facilities
