Physical education is vital to the Chapin School experience. We believe it is essential to not only physiological growth, but also social and emotional growth as well. Students learning to respect their own and each other's different strengths lies at the heart of the school's physical education and athletic programs. As students strive toward overall fitness, coordination and agility, Chapin students learn to employ specific skills on the field and on the gymnasium floor. At the same time, they develop a mature sense of teamwork and good sportsmanship -- lifelong assets in nearly any setting.
Interscholastic teams for both boys and girls in basketball, cross country, lacrosse, soccer and softball provide students additional opportunities to hone their physical and teamwork skills. Chapin has a "no cut" participation policy which affords all interested students the opportunity to be a member of either the junior varsity or varsity team.
