Community

Life at Chapin happens in community.

Our four smaller communities, Wilby, Johnson, Downtown, and Pasteris, give students a place within the school where they feel a sense of belonging. At different points in the year, we come together to form a much larger community. Families, friends, and alumni all join with us for the Back-to-School Family Barbeque and Ice Cream Bingo, for Halloween, for our sports games, and for our music and drama performances.

Caring for others extends past campus. Students and their families participate in several community events. Whether through caroling during the holiday season or making lunches for the Loaves & Fishes Soup Kitchen, we seek out opportunities to live out the virtues students learn about in the classroom.

Making Connections and Developing Skills

Students join clubs, play sports, perform in the arts, and help run school events, often trying things they've never done before. Along the way, they practice skills like organizing their time, honoring commitments, and leading a group when it's their turn. Because these opportunities happen within a familiar community, students have the support and encouragement to take risks and be there for one another.
