8th Grade Legacy Fund

In 2009, parents of the graduating eighth graders began a tradition of honoring their children’s experience with a gift to Chapin. They wrote, “As Chapin has left an indelible mark on our children, we, too, desire to leave an enduring legacy.

Thus was born the Eighth Grade Legacy Fund. Over time, it has evolved into an endowment fund. Gifts are added to the fund to keep the principal growing, with the income used to support the unique experiences during the eighth-grade year at Chapin.

Helped by generous contributions, eighth graders have opportunities to take part in experiential learning activities that foster their intellectual curiosity and deepen their passion for lifelong learning. These activities include:

  • Multiple nights at Camp Mason
  • Seeing a play on Broadway (for a number of years it has been the musical Wicked)
  • Participating in Project Use
